Ganderbal, Jul 09 (KNO): Vishesh Paul Mahajan, Transport Commissioner, Jammu & Kashmir, conducted an extensive visit to key locations along the Amarnath Yatra route to review transport arrangements and coordination among various agencies. He was accompanied by Wajahat, ARTO Ganderbal, and other field officials.
The visit included inspections at Baltal, the base camp at Domail, and a high-level review meeting with key stakeholders, including SSP Traffic (Rural), Camp Director Domail, OC Beacon, and officials of the SSB. The focus of the meeting was to streamline vehicular movement, ensure road safety, monitor transport operations, and enhance inter-agency coordination for the benefit of the pilgrims, a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reads.
At Baltal, the Transport Commissioner reviewed the free transport service being provided to Yatris. He interacted with drivers and instructed them to prioritize safe, disciplined, and comfortable travel for all pilgrims. He also received positive feedback from the Yatris, many of whom expressed satisfaction with the transport facilities and services being made available during the Yatra.
Separately, Mahajan visited the Weighing Bridge at Sonamarg, where he directed ARTO Ganderbal to submit a comprehensive proposal for the modernization of the facility.
This includes the integration of advanced monitoring gadgets and provision of adequate accommodation and infrastructure for staff working at the site.
The Transport Commissioner appreciated the dedication of all departments involved and emphasized the need for sustained vigilance, coordination, and public service commitment to ensure the continued success of the Yatra operations—(KNO)
